Outdoor Recreation Knows No Boundaries Here

The Northern Shenandoah Valley is known for its scenic beauty and four seasons of outdoor recreation. The region is home to the famed Shenandoah National Park, two state parks, The Appalachian Trail, Tuscarora Trail and hundreds of miles of other trails throughout the George Washington National Forest. Venture to the top of Eagle Rock, Big Schloss or the Woodstock Tower for sweeping views of the Shenandoah Valley below. Several handicap accessible trails such as Story book Trail or Lion’s Tale Trail making getting outdoors with strollers or wheel chairs a breeze as well.

Enjoy a float down the North or South forks of the Shenandoah River or paddle Lake Frederick or Lake Laura. In addition to the river, the Northern Shenandoah Valley is also home to numerous streams and tributaries stocked with trout and perfect for fishing.

Cooler winter temperatures don’t mean you need to stay indoors. Bryce Resort offers skiing, snow boarding and tubing throughout the winter, even when snow doesn’t blanket the rest of the Shenandoah Valley. In the summer months, the mountain is converted to a mountain bike park complete with trails perfect for adrenaline seekers and beginners alike.

The region also consists of several notable golf courses for those looking to hit the links.
